No officer should shoot at a suspect after the suspect has been hit once already, and it is unclear if the suspect is able to continue posing a threat. In other words, stop shooting. There are too many cases where you should never have shot someone in the first place. |

Prosecuting attorneys and district attorneys who file charges that they know will not hold up in court, so that a criminal will walk and not be charged with a lesser charge, are guilty of obstructing justice, and place the population in harms way.
This seems to happen when police shootings are tried as first or second degree murder, where the high level of proof and intent will likely fail, and manslaughter was more appropriate; when the murder charge doesn't stick, manslaughter charges are avoided. |

We should have a fund for candidates of each elected position, that is funded according to the number of citizens they'll represent, and that is divided equally among the candidates to use for supporting their campaign.
All other campaign funding should be illegal.
This could solve special interests, and level the ability for each to get their message out.
It could also encourage more than just two parties. |

Many people are unaware that the tiered pricing for gas and electric by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is a way to charge more for the same thing and put ALL of the profit back into the company.
Many assume the extra charges go towards conservation efforts. They don't. The California Public Utilities Commission has allowed PG&E to abuse it's monopoly and cheat customers for years. No other company has been able to get away with such abuse, and it's amazing a lawsuit wasn't filed years ago. A glaring indication of the amount of power such a large company has over the government and all who would oppose. |

Until a clear threat of intent to harm is shown, police should not assume a person is a threat. Having a hand in a back pocket is not a threat. Reaching for your pocket is not a threat. A person with a gun in their hand and a finger on the trigger is a threat. The gun additionally pointed at someone is more than a threat. |

Early prison release or lenient sentencing for medical or age reasons should not be a consideration. They weren't a consideration when the crime was committing. |

Each elected president should spend time between the election and inauguration getting trained on: 1) foreign affairs; 2) the military protocol and abilities; 3) government departments and their functions; 4) CIA/NSA/FBI/etc. status, functions, and personnel; 5) U.S. finances; 6) White House protocols; etc.
The president is like the CEO and CFO of the biggest corporation in America, yet is usually neither trained for, nor qualified, for the duties taken on.
The president should be able to hit the ground running. |

Countries are responsible for their leaders actions, and must retain the ability to keep those leaders in check. Actions like genocide must be resisted before they occur.
A balance between control by the people and by the government must be maintained to allow proper actions to be taken.
One method governments use to tip the balance of control in their favor is gun control. |

Parcel taxes should be restructured such that multi-unit properties pay their fair share. Currently (in California) all multi-unit properties pay a single parcel tax, which are used to subsidize local schools. Apartments, condos, and townhouses typically have many students, but the property owners only pay one parcel tax per building or entire complex. Home owners pay an unfair portion of the taxes, and retired families pay for schools they no longer get use of. |

China blaming the U.S. for stoking the tensions in the South China Seas is like driving on the sidewalk and blaming the people walking on the sidewalk for complaining. |

Special interest groups do not represent "the people" evenly; they represent those who have money to form and run the special interest group. As such, by definition they should not be part of the democratic process and have influence over the voices that represent us.
Representatives should not be allowed to get any influence from special interest groups. |

Combining efforts to commit a crime is gang activity and organized crime. Police who organize to commit crimes should be treated more harshly than gangs, as they hide behind the law when they offend. |

Until an officer has properly identified him-or-herself, there can be no justification for non-compliance with an officer. Verbal identification may not be sufficient; especially with the deaf, etc.
Identification must be presented when asked, as there have been too many cases of impersonation; and anyone could claim to be police with the intent of mentally disarming a potential victim. |

Executive orders are a sign that our government is broken. A major difference between a democracy and a dictatorship is that one person cannot make executive decisions that go against the will of the people. Executive order privilege should be restricted significantly or abolished altogether. |

Every prison should be self-funded by inmates. All inmates should contribute work to either sustain the prison functions, or supply goods or services where the compensation is used to pay for supplies and personnel at the prison. Inmates need to rehabilitate properly by working. Any who cannot work and have no chance of release, should be considered for execution. The tax-payers should not pay for inmates to be lazy and milk the system.
Inmate should first pay some debt to victims and/or society, then have the chance to save money and purchase perks. This gives them reason to work hard, and gives them hope for starting with something once released. |
